The Peoples Bank Co. donates $150,000 to Mercer Health’s Childbirth Center Expansion
The Peoples Bank Co.’s generous donation of $150,000 to Mercer Health’s Childbirth Center Expansion will fund a mural wall as part of the ongoing expansion and renovation of the Childbirth Center located within Mercer County Community Hospital. This project aims to ensure safer spaces for cesarean procedures, particularly in emergency situations, provide additional space for the increasing number of births, enhance the nursery for unique situations, and continue offering local, compassionate, quality childbirth services.
Representatives of The Peoples Bank Co. stated, “The quality of care given by the staff at Mercer Health goes above and beyond and we are excited to help make the birthing experience even better for the families of Mercer County.”
The Delivering on a Promise campaign, supporting this project, was initiated in July 2023 when the Walter and Evelyn Braun Family contributed a generous $1 million donation. Including this contribution from The Peoples Bank Co., over $2,209,000 has been donated to the MED Foundation to support the project.
“We are deeply grateful for donors like The Peoples Bank Co. for their generous support of our future state-of-the-art Childbirth Center,” states Deb Hemmelgarn, Director of the MED Foundation and Volunteer Services at Mercer Health. “Strong healthcare is vital for the strength of our communities and economy. These contributions help us attract new OB/GYNs, incentivize young families to return and work here, and provide a safe, convenient place for families to welcome their new additions. Together, we are creating a brighter, healthier future for all."
