Minster Board of Education Overview- November 17, 2024
The Minster Board of Education met for their monthly meeting Monday evening.
Donations
The Board accepted the following donations:
- $100 to the HS Scholastic Bowl
- $300 from Minster Civic Association for Youth Leadership Club
- $10 from an anonymous donor for the No Shame Lunch account
- $200 from an anonymous donor for FFA banquet expenses
- $90 from Kona Ice for Elementary Student Council
- $40 from an anonymous donor for the football program
- $250 from the BremenFest Parade Committee for the HS Band program
- $7500 from the Minster Athletic Boosters for free student admission to select
athletic events
- $2000 from the OHSAA to the Athletic Department
- $100 from the American Legion to the HS Band program
- $550 from Minster Oktoberfest to the HS Band program
- $500 from Minster Oktoberfest to the football program
- $2000 from the Minster Community Fund for a guest speaker for the Get Real
program
- $305.08 from Minster McDonald’s to the Athletic Department
Board Recognition of Students
The Minster Board of Education recognized the D3 Girls Cross Country State Championship
team. The Board also recognized All-Ohio performers Maria Niekamp- daughter of Chris and
Becky Niekamp, Claire Bohman- daughter of Ryan and Julie Bohman and Nicholas Prengerson of David and Laura Prenger.
Superintendent’s Report
Superintendent Josh Meyer updated the Board on the recently held Veteran’s Day assembly,
the October District Leadership Team meeting and provided the Board with the annual
consolidated school report.

K-6 Principal’s Report
Elementary Principal Mrs. Mandy Albers provided the elementary report. She shared that Isaac
Bohman was the first quarter “Spirit Stick” recipient and informed the Board of the Humble and
Kind Award winners. Mrs. Albers provided an update on recently held Parent/Teacher
Conferences and the Multi-Tiered System of Supports being implemented at the elementary.

7-12 Principal’s Report
7-12 Principal Mr. Austin Kaylor shared the Jr/Sr High School update with the Board. He
congratulated Lexi Hanson, Kerri Heckman and Ella Kerrigan for being named Governor’s Merit
Scholarship recipients. Mr. Kaylor provided an overview of the fall sports season, congratulated
October’s Cats of the Month and the recently inducted members of the National Honor Society.

Curriculum and Instruction
Minster Jr. High School social studies teacher Mike Wiss shared details of the recent 8th grade
trip to Washington DC with the Board. Some highlights of the trip include the Flight 93 Memorial,
Gettysburg and the Marine Corps Museum. Mr. Wiss told the Board that one of the key benefits
of the DC trip is that students are learning while outside the classroom.
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Gina Selby provided the Board with her monthly report. Mrs. Selby gave the Board an
update on income tax collections, provided the Board with information on a recently completed
insurance appraisal, informed the Board that the Auglaize County Budget Commission set the
millage rate for bonds at 4 mills. Mrs. Selby also presented an updated 5 Year Forecast to the
Board.

Superintendent’s Consent Agenda
During the Superintendent’s portion of the consent agenda Superintendent Josh Meyer
commended the fall sports student-athletes and coaches on a very enjoyable and successful fall
season.
New Business
In New Business, the Minster Board of Education approved the following items:
● Tri Star Advisory Referral #137 for a JLG Lift to be used in the Tri Star Construction and
Ag Mechanics Programs.
● The Gifted Education Identification and Service Plan.
● A Memorandum of Agreement between the Minster Teachers Association and the Board
regarding Longevity Increment Payments.
● The Board approved for first reading a number of new and revised policies.
Personnel Recommendations
The Board approved the following Personnel Recommendations:
● Offered a limited one year contract to Melinda Slayton- Substitute Cook’s Helper and
Substitute Custodian, and Sandy Hoying- Substitute Secretary.
● Offered Supplemental contracts to:
○ Nann Stechschulte- Varsity Asst. Girls Basketball
○ Shelly Wolf- JV Girls Basketball
○ Dawn Schwieterman- Head Swimming
○ Pierce McGowan- Asst. Swimming
○ Austen Vanderhorst- Boys Bowling
● The Board approved the following supplemental volunteers:
○ Jon Woehrmyer- HS Boys Basketball
○ Tim Nolan- JH Boys Basketball
○ LeAnn Eiting- HS Girls Basketball

The Minster Board of Education set their next monthly meeting for Monday, December 16 at 7
PM in the Large Group Meeting Room.
Executive Session
The Board of Education entered into Executive Session to discuss the employment and
compensation of a public employee and the purchase or sale of property. There was no action
taken after the executive session
