61 year old Timothy Kiester of Berrien Springs, Michigan has been charged with 2 2nd degree misdemeanor counts of vehicular manslaughter stemming from an October 21st fatal traffic crash in Van Wert near the the Hickory Sticks Golf Course. According to the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Kiester was driving a pick up truck and hauling a camper and allegedly failed to maintain an assured clear distance. Kiester struck the rear of a car driven by 30 year old Zachary Wood of Convoy. Wood and his passenger, 29 year old Logan Elder of Van Wert were killed. The collision forced Wood's car into the path of a semi driven by 33 year old Christopher Poland of Niles. Poland was treated at an area hospital. If convicted, Kiester faces up to 90 days in jail, a $750 fine and a mandatory license suspension of six months to three years.
