The Ohio Department of job and family services has released figures for August for unemployment in the state of Ohio. Mercer County has Ohio's lowest rate of unemployment with 2.9 percent. This is a decrease from 3.2 percent in July. Auglaize County was in 6th place with 3.3 percent. Van Wert County had 3.7 percent. Allen County reported 4.3 percent. Across the state, Athens County had the state's highest rate of unemployment with 6;4 percent. Ohio's statewide rate of unemployment was 4.5 percent for the month of August.
