Serious injury crash on Saturday in Mercer County


The following is a Press Release from the Mercer County Sheriff's Office:    

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that deputies are investigating a serious injury accident that occurred Saturday evening, September 21st.  Mercer County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call at 6:42 PM of a crash at the intersection of St Rte 118 and Siegrist Jutte Rd in Butler Township.

 

The investigation revealed that Josephine Bruns (18) of Maria Stein, OH was driving a 2017 silver Ford Focus, traveling westbound on Siegrist Jutte Rd.   Kenneth Obringer (72) of Coldwater, OH was driving a 2018 gray Volkswagen SUV, traveling northbound on St Rte 118.  Bruns failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign on Siegrist Jutte Rd at St Rte 118, proceeding into the intersection, and was struck by the SUV.  Mr Obringer was transported to Joint Township ER for treatment.  He had a front seat passenger, Nancy Kanney (72) of St. Henry, OH who was transported to Mercer Health ER for treatment.  Ms Bruns, the driver of the Ford Focus, was transported to Joint Township ER for treatment.  There were four passengers in the Bruns vehicle.  Zachary Heath (15) of St. Henry, OH was the front seat passenger and was transported to Joint Township ER for treatment.  Trey Goettemoeller (17) of Maria Stein, Tanner Hartings (14) of Maria Stein and Alivia Beasley (15) of Yorkshire were all rear seat passengers and transported to Mercer Health ER.  Hartings and Beasley were later transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital for further treatment.  

 

Assisting at the scene were members of the Coldwater Fire Department, Coldwater EMS, Celina EMS, St. Henry EMS, and MCERV.    

 

This crash remains under investigation at this time.
