Celina police address disturbing social media post

NEWS RELEASE 09/12/2024

This morning, Thursday 9-12-2024, at about 7:58 AM Celina Police responded to the Celina Middle School after a local person called in information about a social media post. The post appeared to be a screen shot of a screen shot of a screen shot originating on social media. It depicted a handgun held out in front of a camera with comments including “Yall better not come to school” and “cms y’all next”.

It is impossible to tell where the post originated or when it was originally made. The School Resource Officer and Celina patrol officers went to the school. None of the names associated with the posts and re-posts are Celina students. It was also found that in the past week numerous school threats similar to this one were made around the State.

While this threat does not appear credible as it concerns Celina City Schools, the Celina Police Department and the Celina City Schools take all such threats and concerns seriously. We will continue to respond to and investigate such incidents as fully as possible. Anyone who makes such posts or re-posts knowing they are false will face criminal investigation and charges where possible.

Please report anything you perceive as a threat to our schools or citizens immediately to the the Celina P.D. at 419-586-2345.
