CUY CNTY PROTESTS
IN NORTHEAST OHIO, PRO-PALESTIAN DEMONSTRATORS DISTRACTED A CUYAHOGA COUNTY COUNCIL MEETING IN CLEVELAND, PROTESTING OUTSIDE AND CLAIMING THE COUNTY SHOULD DIVEST FROM ISRAEL.
AT THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, THE SOUNDS OF CHANTING ECHOED INTO TUESDAY NIGHT'S COUNCIL MEETING. IT'S BECAUSE JUST OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING, DOZENS OF PROTESTERS CALLED FOR COUNTY OFFICIALS TO RECONSIDER A RECENT DECISION TO KEEP ABOUT 16 MILLION DOLLARS INVESTED IN ISRAEL BONDS. BACK IN JUNE, TWO COUNCIL MEMBERS TRIED TO STOP THE INVESTMENTS. BUT, THE RESOLUTION WAS WITHDRAWN AFTER CUYAHOGA COUNTY EXECUTIVE CHRIS RONAYNE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL DAVE YOST SAYING THE CHANGE COULD VIOLATE OHIO LAW.
