The Mercer County Sheriff's Office reports that 59 year old John Brown of Rockford has been charged with driving under the influence after a crash Tuesday at the intersection of State Route 49 and Strable Road. At approximately 4 pm, Brown allededly pulled out in front of a white van and was struck. The driver of the van sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercer Health for treatment. Brown was taken to the Mercer County Jail on a charge of driving under the influence. Brown, who refused sobriety tests, was released pending his arraignment later this week. Brown faces charges including OVI, refusal for the test and a stop sign violation.
