On Sunday night, August 11, 2024 at about 9:53PM Celina Police responded to a reported hit and run involving a bicycle. The crash occurred on E Wayne St at Linden Ave.
Through the course of the investigation it was found that 47 year old Cory VanGundy of Celina was driving a red 2012 Kia Sorrento westbound on E Wayne St approaching Linden Ave. Roy ‘Junior’ Lockwood a 65 year old man also from Celina was riding a 3 wheel bicycle also westbound at the same location ahead of VanGundy.
VanGundy hit the tricycle Lockwood was riding and then fled the scene. Lockwood suffered life threatening injuries. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and then by helicopter to a level one trauma center in the Dayton area. His condition is currently unknown.
Cory VanGundy was located a short time later and arrested. He is currently charged with OVI, Hit-Skip and Leaving the Scene of a Crash. He was incarcerated and bond was posted.
