Lake Improvement Association to meet Saturday Morning

Join us this Saturday, August 3 to hear the fascinating history of Gordon State Park presented by Denny Long. Gordon State Park operated from 1924 to 1933 on Grand Lake St. Marys and featured the Devil's Backbone, Ohio's second-largest rollercoaster during that era.
Denny Long is a retired teacher and football coach from St. Marys High School. He rode his first rollercoaster at age 8, and since has ridden 668 coasters in over 200 amusement parks worldwide. His most recent ride was on July 4th in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
Upon arriving in St. Marys in 1962, Denny was fascinated by tales of Grand Lake's "Lost Amusement Park" and the Devil's Backbone rollercoaster, and that fascination inspired him to research local history to provide a glimpse into a time and place he will never be able to visit and a coaster he will never get to ride.
THE PUBLIC IS INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND. Denny will present at the August 2024 Lake Improvement Association meeting, to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3, at the Celina Moose. The meeting will also feature lake and water quality updates.
Free doughnuts and coffee will be available as refreshments.
