The former Mayor of Wapakoneta has reported to the Auglaize County Jail to begin serving a 6 month jail for 3 misdemeanor counts of conflict of interest. Last month, the third district court of appeals vacated 2 felony charges of unlawful interest in a public contract and theft in office. Stinebaugh was convicted of both of these charges in a trial in November of 2022. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison but that sentence was removed when Stinebaugh prevailed in his appeal. The oriiginal charges centered around an incident where Stinebaugh was accused of having the city install a sewer line to a home built by his own company at the expense of taxpayers. The Former Mayor was also accused of entering into contracts with family members and a business partner while acting in his capacity of Mayor.
