The Associated Press reports Former President Donald Trump was the target of an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday. The former President was seen with his ear covered in blood as Secret Service Agents pulled him away. The Trump campaign stated the former President was "fine". A local prosecutor told the AP the shooter was killed by the Secret Service at the scene and an attendee at the rally was also killed. Two officials spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation. They said the shooter was not an attendee at the rally. This was the first attempt to assassinate a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981. The FBI named Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the suspected shooter behind the assassination attempt. The man who was killed at a rally for former President Donald Trump was Corey Comperatore, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro announced Sunday.
