Ohio Jobless Claims for Sunday, June 16, 2024, through Saturday, June 22, 2024
This week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) provided updated data on
unemployment claims filed in Ohio the week of June 16-June 22, 2024. These statistics were
shared with the U.S. Department of Labor.
Ohioans filed 5,154 initial unemployment claims last week, which was 790 fewer than the
previous week. Approximately 543 of those have been flagged for more stringent identity
verification, to ensure they are not fraudulent.
Ohioans filed 40,851 continued unemployment claims last week, which was 219 more than the
previous week.
The total number of claims filed from June 16-June 22, 2024, was 46,005.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in May was 4.2%. The national unemployment rate in May was
4.0%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in May was 61.9%. The national labor force
participation rate in May was 62.5%.
ODJFS works in partnership with local workforce development boards and local staff to provide
employment and training services at 88 OhioMeansJobs centers throughout the state.
