60 year old Doug Stelzer of Celina is in the Mercer County Jail after an incident early Friday Morning. According to the police, Stelzer assaulted the victim after they had been drinking at a Montezuma area bar. The woman told police Stelzer choked her. When Deputies went to arrest Stelzer he allegedly started walking away and pulled his hands away before he was taken to the ground and eventually cuffed. Stelzer is being held on a $25,000 bond. Stelzer faces charges of domestic violence, strangulation and resisting arrest. Stelzer's next court appearance is April 26th. Stelzer has a prior domestic violence conviction from Celina Municipal Court in 2020.
