CHARGES REACTIONS

CHARGES REACTIONS

OFFICIALS IN COLUMBUS ARE REACTING TO CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING FILED AGAINST THREE POLICE OFFICERS FOR THEIR CONDUCT AT LAST SUMMER'S POLICE BRUTALITY PROTESTS IN DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS.
THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE SENT US A STATEMENT SAYING THAT, AFTER CONSULTING WITH LODGE COUNSEL, THEY BELIEVE THE OFFICERS ACTED APPROPRIATELY WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THEIR DUTIES. MEANWHILE, COLUMBUS MAYOR ANDREW GINTHER DID NOT SEE IT THAT WAY. HIS STATEMENT SAYS SOME COLUMBUS OFFICERS ACTED OUTSIDE POLICY, ABUSED THEIR AUTHORITY AND MAY HAVE COMMITTED CRIMES. PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR NED PETTUS JUNIOR ADDED THAT ANSWERS AND ACCOUNTABILITY ARE WHAT THE PEOPLE OF COLUMBUS DEMAND AND DESERVE.
