Celina man charged with making a false alarm


A Celina man is in the Mercer County Adult Detention Center after he was charged with making a false alarm Monday Morning. According to the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to Lot 29 at 7696 State Route 219 just before 11 am. Dispatch was advised a caller had a man in his house at gun point. The caller later changed his claim and stated the subject had left the residence and he had fired a couple of shots to scare them away. The subject, 62  year old Dean Dearth admitted to drinking alcohol on the night prior and also that morning. A firearm was located in the residence and secured. The report states Dearth told different versions of what happened but no one was seen in the area and photographs Dearth had claimed contained the subjects in his house did not show anyone present. Dearth was arrested and charged with making a false alarm. Dearth will appear Wednesday at 3 pm in Celina Municipal Court.
