PHARMACY ROBBERY


COLUMBUS POLICE SHOT A MAN SUSPECTED OF ROBBING A PHARMACY FOR DRUGS IN WEST COLUMBUS, TUESDAY MORNING. 

IT HAPPENED AROUND 8 A.M. AT THE C-V-S PHARMACY ON WEST BROAD STREET NEAR NORTH CENTRAL AVENUE. POLICE SAY THEY ENCOUNTERED THE SUSPECT WHILE RESPONDING TO A ROBBERY REPORT.

AT LEAST ONE OFFICER FIRED, HITTING THE MAN. ALTHOUGH HE WAS SHOT, THE MAN GOT INTO A CAR AND DROVE AWAY, CRASHING A SHORT TIME LATER. THAT SUSPECT IS EXPECTED TO BE OKAY.
WITNESSES TOLD POLICE THE SUSPECT DEMANDED DRUGS DURING THE ROBBERY.

UPDATE: POLICE IN COLUMBUS SAY A ROBBER WAS AFTER PRESCRIPTION DRUGS AT A PHARMACY YESTERDAY.

OFFICERS RUSHED TO HELP - AND SHOT THE SUSPECT AS HE TRIED TO GET AWAY. OFFICERS SAY HE SLIPPED INTO A STOLEN CAR, WHEN AN OFFICER SHOT HIM. HE MANAGED TO DRIVE AWAY BUT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR AT I-70 AND WEST BROAD. POLICE WERE ABLE TO ARREST THE MAN. POLICE ARE LOOKING TO SEE IF THE SUSPECT MAY BE INVOLVED IN ANY OTHER ROBBERIES IN THE AREA. IN A ONE MILE RADIUS IN THE LAST MONTH, THERE HAVE BEEN 10 ROBBERIES, INCLUDING 2 AT THE SAME LOCATION.
