Union City man pleads guilty as part of a plea agreement

The Union City, Indiana man arrested in January after a string of break-ins and thefts in Mercer County has pleaded guilty to over 20 charges in an agreement with prosecutors. 22 year old Jason Amspaugh was originally indicted on over 50 charges. Amspaugh pleaded guilty to charges including breaking and entering and theft of a firearm and grand theft. Amspaugh faces over 20 years in prison when he is sentenced July 18th. Amspaugh was arrested when he was seen trying to steal something from under the hood of an auto at a local dealership. Amspaugh was eventually arrested after he tried to get away and crashed the vehicle. Amspaugh also faces charges in Auglaize, Miami, Shelby and Darke Counties in Ohio and in Randolph County in Indiana.
