RESEARCHERS SAY A NEW STUDY OF THOUSANDS OF WOMEN IN DENMARK INDICATES THAT MAMMOGRAMS OFTEN LEAD TO UNNECESSARY TREATMENT FOR BREAST CANCER

RESEARCHERS SAY A NEW STUDY OF THOUSANDS OF WOMEN IN DENMARK INDICATES THAT MAMMOGRAMS OFTEN LEAD TO UNNECESSARY TREATMENT FOR BREAST CANCER.  ACCORDING TO THE DANISH STUDY, ONE IN THREE WOMEN RECEIVE UNNECESSARY TREATMENT BECAUSE OF BREAST CANCER DETECTED BY THE TEST. THE REASON? RESEARCHERS SAY IN MOST CASES THE TUMOR IS SO SLOW-GROWING THAT THEY'RE ESSENTIALLY HARMLESS. PEOPLE OPPOSED TO THE STUDY DISAGREE SAYING, MEDICAL SCIENCE CANNOT DETERMINE WHICH CANCERS WILL OR WILL NOT ADVANCE WHICH IS WHY DOCTORS RECCOMEND TREATMENT
